O presente artigo, de caráter bibliográfico, tem como objetivo principal apresentar um modelo empírico de abordagem das competências digitais docentes na educação voltada a combater a propagação de fake news. Para tanto, tomamos os conceitos teóricos de fake news (RECUERO; GRUZD, 2019) e de competências digitais (FERRARI, 2012; MARTINS, 2017; SILVA, 2018; SILVA, 2018) como base para elaboração de um modelo empírico a ser trabalho pelos professores em sala de aula, considerando o continuum da alfabetização, letramento e fluência digital envolvidos no combate à produção e divulgação de notícias falsas e manipuladas.
