Abstract

The objective of the work is to analyze the concepts of motherhood and mothering, which are treated as synonyms, that is, they have the same definitions. It is observed, however, that such conceptualizations have different meanings that require evidence regarding feminist issues, given that, under a patriarchal regime, representations of motherhood and mothering arise from ideological and political productions, defining roles, tasks and power relations between the sexes. In this sense, the problem lies in investigating the different values ​​historically constructed regarding motherhood and mothering and their reverberations in the exercise of Law 13,509/17, which brought important changes to the Child and Adolescent Statute regarding the legal delivery of a child for adoption. , concluding that current legislation still presents inconsistencies, which, making women invisible, becomes a mirror and space for the reproduction of symbolic violence perpetrated in the face of gender stereotypes and historically consolidated oppression.
