Peer Review Policy
The Revista Tangram adopts peer review as a fundamental practice to ensure the scientific quality, methodological integrity, and relevance of the published works. The evaluation process is structured in two stages and follows best editorial practices, in accordance with ethical principles and open science initiatives.
1. First Review Stage — Scientific Editorial Board
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial review by members of the Scientific Editorial Board, aimed at verifying formal and preliminary compliance of the text.
In this stage, the following aspects are checked:
-
Relevance of the topic to the scope of the Revista Tangram.
-
Compliance of the submitted files with the OJS/PKP system.
-
Proper completion of metadata in the platform.
-
Adherence to the journal template and author guidelines.
-
Manuscript structure and similarity index.
-
Preliminary assessment of scientific quality, clarity, originality, and novelty.
The average time for this stage is 1 to 4 weeks, depending on the volume of submissions.
2. Second Review Stage — ad hoc Reviewers
Manuscripts approved in the initial stage are forwarded to ad hoc reviewers, specialists in the subject area. This stage is conducted under a double-blind system, ensuring anonymity between authors and reviewers.
Each article is evaluated by at least two reviewers, based on the following dimensions:
-
Cognitive: Logical coherence and scientific reasoning.
-
Methodological: Clarity and precision in describing methods and techniques.
-
Aesthetic: Quality of scientific writing, formatting, and adherence to editorial standards.
Reviewers use a standardized form with predefined options and an open field for justifications, where they may recommend acceptance, rejection, or revisions.
The average time for peer review is up to 90 days, depending on reviewer availability.
3. Conflicts and Tie-Breaking
In the event of significant disagreement between reviewers, the manuscript is submitted to a third reviewer. The final decision is made by the Editorial Team, taking all reviews into account.
4. Revision Requests
When changes are required, the manuscript is returned to the authors for revision and may be resubmitted for further review.
Authors are responsible for orthographic and grammatical corrections as well as translations of titles and abstracts into English and Spanish.
After final approval, no additional content changes are accepted.
5. Publication and Submission Order
Accepted articles are organized and published following the chronological order of submission.
6. Commitment to Open Peer Review
The Revista Tangram is in the process of adopting Open Peer Review practices, with the publication of review reports alongside articles. Initially, reviews will be published anonymously; later, with reviewer consent, names may also be included, in line with principles of transparency and open science.
This policy reaffirms the Revista Tangram’s commitment to editorial quality, scientific ethics, and transparency, fostering trust within the academic community.
