The present study aims to investigate how the context in TPACK — Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) and Critical Mathematics Education - EMC can influence teachers' epistemological decisions during the process of integrating digital technologies (DT) to teaching mathematics. We used the Generic Interview Survey and the semi-structured interview to answer the following question: how does knowledge of the context (XK) affect the way teachers make decisions about what and how to teach mathematics? The research results allowed us to infer that just the inclusion of technologies in mathematics teaching is not enough to alleviate the problems of equity, quality and contemporaneity in teaching. As a possibility for future investigations, we propose the integration of Critical Mathematics Education, the TPACK model and artificial intelligence in teacher training by offering a holistic approach to mathematics education.
