In this article, an excerpt from a larger PhD study, we aimed to 1) Examine students’ decision-making in situations related to finances, which involved mathematical and non-mathematical aspects and 2) Identify, from the perspective of the Investigative Cooperation Model, dialogical acts established in the proposed discussions. As a theoretical framework, we used Critical Mathematics Education discussed by Ole Skovsmose. As methodological procedures, students participated in the dialogue moment: “Which cell phone to choose”. We identified that 5th grade students have reflections on themes related to the proposed discussions, presenting their points of view and daily experiences, favoring the proposed discussions. Regarding the promotion of dialogical acts, we noticed the presence of most of these acts, with establishments of contact, positions, perceptions, challenges and evaluations. We emphasize the importance of studies that propose moments of dialogue to students, in which they become agents in the teaching and learning processes.
