Retraction Polyci

The Revista Tangram adheres to international recommendations for the retraction of scientific articles, following guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and other editorial best practices. This policy ensures academic integrity, correction of the scientific record, and trust in the publication.

1. Purpose and Principles

Retraction is a mechanism to correct the literature and alert readers to content with significant errors or misconduct that compromises the reliability of the published work, without erasing the editorial history.

Retraction will be considered in cases of:

  • Plagiarism or self-plagiarism detected after publication.

  • Duplicate submission or publication of the same manuscript in other journals.

  • Data falsification or manipulation.

  • Serious methodological or interpretative errors invalidating conclusions.

  • Authorship disputes, including omission or inappropriate attribution.

2. Identification Procedure

Errors or misconduct may be identified:

  • By the editorial team;

  • By readers, reviewers, or other members of the scientific community;

  • By the authors’ affiliated institutions.

Notifications must be sent by email to the Revista Tangram editorial office, preferably with supporting evidence. Anonymous complaints will be accepted but may require additional elements to substantiate the analysis.

3. Investigation

Once notified, the investigation process follows these steps:

  • Define the nature of the misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data fabrication, authorship issues).

  • Review the submission history, including reviews, communications, and similarity reports.

  • Compare complaints with editorial records.

  • Prepare an internal technical-scientific report documenting the evidence.

  • Dialogue with authors, complainants (if identified), and, if necessary, the involved institutions.

  • Submit the case to the editorial and scientific board for a final decision.

4. Timeframe

The investigation and eventual retraction process will vary according to case complexity, generally between 30 and 180 days. Authors will be periodically informed of the progress.

5. Publication of Retraction

When retraction is confirmed, the Revista Tangram will publish a formal notice in the Retractions Section, including:

  • Title of the retracted article;

  • Full names of the authors and their institutional affiliations;

  • Detailed reason for the retraction (e.g., plagiarism, duplicate publication, misconduct, serious methodological error);

  • Link to the original article, which remains accessible but clearly marked as retracted.

6. Notification to Institutions

In severe cases (e.g., deliberate misconduct), the Revista Tangram may notify the authors’ affiliated institutions and the co-authors involved.

7. Final Approval

The final decision on retraction is made collectively by the editorial and scientific board of the journal, based on the documented evidence.
