This text aims to analyze and discuss the teaching of Geometry in the early years of schooling based on textbooks. The study is part of a doctoral research project that investigates the teaching of Geometry in the early years of elementary education in the public school system of Caravelas, Bahia. It considers three textbook series as reference materials, used during the periods of 2016 to 2018, 2019 to 2022, and the series designated for 2023 to 2026. A qualitative documentary approach is employed to underpin the analysis and discussion, supported by theoretical frameworks on textbooks as objects of study, including official documents such as the National Curriculum Parameters (PCN) and the Common National Curriculum Base (BNCC). The results indicate that the geometry thematic unit, particularly in textbooks aligned with the BNCC, is addressed through connections with everyday objects, the use of concrete materials, and the exploration of playful activities. This study suggests the use of technological resources, which is also implemented through the integration of Geometry with other thematic units in Mathematics and other areas of knowledge, as proposed by the BNCC. The findings suggest that textbooks serve as a primary means for teachers to engage with the proposals set forth by this curricular document.
