Financial Sustainability
Revista Tangram recognizes that financial sustainability is an essential condition for maintaining its editorial activities, continuously improving its processes, and fulfilling its mission of disseminating scientific knowledge with ethics, quality, and open access.
Revista Tangram adopts as a fundamental principle the guarantee of free access for authors and readers, aligned with the principles of open science. Therefore, the journal seeks alternative funding sources to cover its operational costs while preserving editorial integrity and scientific independence.
In 2024/2025, Revista Tangram received a grant of BRL 8,000.00 from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), allocated for investments in the journal’s qualification and improvements. Although this amount is important and welcome, it remains far from ideal and insufficient to cover all the costs involved in maintaining a high-quality scientific publication, which include not only editing and publishing but also technological infrastructure, digital preservation, revision and translation services, and scientific outreach activities.
To ensure its financial sustainability, Revista Tangram continually seeks to:
-
Submit projects to public funding agencies such as CNPq, CAPES, and FAPESP.
-
Obtain institutional support from universities and research centers.
-
Establish partnerships with scientific associations, foundations, and private initiatives, provided they do not compromise editorial independence or create conflicts of interest.
-
Participate in calls and public notices aimed at qualifying scientific journals.
-
Rationalize operational costs by adopting more efficient technologies and processes.
Revista Tangram also reaffirms its commitment to applying the resources received in a transparent and responsible manner, always focusing on the continuous improvement of editorial quality, valuing the professionals involved in the process, and expanding the journal’s reach and scientific impact.
This policy is periodically reviewed to adapt to the journal’s needs and the possibilities of resource mobilization, ensuring that the journal continues to fulfill its social and academic function sustainably.
