This article investigates the impact of collaborative practices on students' access to quality education, emphasizing the promotion of equity and the principles of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4. In the field of mathematics education, this movement is essential to create a learning environment that fosters creativity and prepares students for the complex demands of the future. Based on theoretical foundations, we describe a classroom experience of a mathematics teacher in the first year of secondary school. The methodology used was collaborative group work aimed at improving skills related to 2nd degree functions, including the analysis of vertices through graphical representation. This approach encourages collaboration, knowledge sharing and collective construction of learning. During the activity, the positive engagement of the students was observed, indicating the viability of this pedagogical strategy for ongoing implementation. It should be emphasized that collaborative peer teaching can strengthen socio-emotional skills and contribute to the long-term improvement of students' mathematical competence.
