Mathematics beyond school walls: building tables and graphs about health factors

Abstract

This text is an account of an experience conducted in the discipline of Mathematics with the classes of the third year of high school. The objective of this work was to develop strategies and actions that allow students to construct, analyze and interpret graphs and tables, in cross-cutting issues through field research in their communities. The educational proposal was attended by 75 students who went to the fields and collected data from 2727 subjects. The transverse health theme and the basic concepts of Statistics were addressed. The experience allowed us to apply guidelines for practical activities that revealed advances and limits to the accomplishment of the proposed activities.

Mateus Souza de Oliveira, Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA)

Professor efetivo de Matemática do Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA), com mestrado em Educação Matemática (UESC/2015), especialização em Tecnologias e Educação Aberta Digital (UFRB/2019) e em Gestão Educacional( UESB/2013) e graduado no curso de Licenciatura em Matemática com enfoque de Informática (UESB/2010). Atuou como professor de Matemática e Física do Colégio Estadual João Lopes de Oliveira (2017-2019). Tem experiência na monitoria de Cálculo I (2009) do curso de Matemática da UESB, e nas disciplinas de Matemática (2012-2016) e Física (2016) do programa UpT bem como tutor do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática - EaD, (UFRB/2015-2017) e do curso de Licenciatura em Matemática UESB EaD (2018-2019). Além disso, é autor do blog: http://matheusmathica.blogspot.com.br, espaço que busca sem fins lucrativos mostrar uma Matemática divertida, interessante e curiosa e é um dos coautores do livro "Múltiplos Olhares: a gestão educacional em foco". Alex Andrade Alves, Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA)

Doutor em Educação (2007) pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Licenciado em Matemática (1999) pela Universidade Católica do Salvador (UCSal). Realizou estágio de pós-doutoramento, junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação Matemática (PPGEM) da Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (UESC), no campo da formação de professores, com financiamento da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), via Programa Nacional de Pós-Doutorado (PNPD), no período de 2013 a 2014. Atualmente é professor efetivo do Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA), Campus de Camaçari. Tem experiência na área de Educação Matemática, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: tecnologias digitais da informação e da comunicação, prática docente, estágio curricular supervisionado e formação/desenvolvimento profissional de professores que ensinam matemática.
