Abstract

The distance education print new possibilities of acquiring knowledge with teachers and students networked in different spaces. The tutor plays a fundamental role in this process and in monitoring the activities of students, through the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Thus, this study aimed to eval‐ uate and discuss the educational practice of tutors who work in DL courses and how the mediation is done. Participated in the qualitative study of three tutors linked to an institution of higher learning in the state of Rio Grande do Sul con‐ ducted in three focus meetings held in September 2013 , with an interval of seven days between meetings . We conclude that tutors recognize that mentor‐ ing activities constitute an educational practice mediated by technology.
