What are the possible dialogues that can exist between tourism and literature? This question mobilizes the present work, aiming to elaborate an interpretation of travelling as an amalgamation of these two human activities. A theoretical premise is set as a holder for the reflections: both tourism and literature promote travels. Tourism fosters the spatial displacement of subjects so that they, while travelling, can develop: changes in perception, pauses in daily life, distancing from routine, knowledge of new landscapes and territories, respite. Literature, in any of its genres, uses metaphorical power to constitute imaginative displacement of images and human situations. A literature for travelling or a travel through literature; the literary tourism or a literature of tourism experiment immense possibilities for reflecting about the world. This research relies on field work, organization of symposiums and various activities delineated by research networks.
