CHILDREN'S INFORMATION BOOKS AND FEMALE AUTHORSHIP:
AN ANALYSIS OF THE PUBLICATIONS AWARDED BY FNLIJ

The article proposes an analysis of the publications awarded in the informative book category by the National Foundation for Children's and Young People's Books (FNLIJ), with a close look at female-authored productions. The aim is to discuss the characteristics of non-fiction works written by women that receive recognition from legitimizing bodies. A preliminary observation reveals that a significant proportion of these publications are signed by women authors, often in co-authorship, which highlights the importance of women's collective work in the field of literature. This suggests not only a strong female presence in the production of information books for children, but also a possible network of collaboration between female writers, illustrators and researchers. With regard to the themes explored, it can be seen that the award-winning books often address relevant social issues and biographies of other women, reinforcing a commitment to valuing historical narratives and female representation. An analysis of the works awarded in the last five years shows a markedly historical and social bias, exposing both contemporary concerns and an effort to recover figures and events that contributed to the construction of society. This scenario points to an engaged informative literature, committed to promoting debates on identity, culture and citizenship.
