Abstract

This paper aims to briefly report on the experiences acquired in the formation of the Flavors of the Cerrado Association in the Lagoa Grande Settlement, Itahum District, Dourados-MS. When we realized that the income obtained only from the milk trade, which until then had been the main source of income, was not enough to support our families, we decided to look for new ways to generate income. So, with the support of Agraer, we began the struggle to specialize and set up our association, which was not achieved initially; it was only formalized in 2012, after new partnerships with EMBRAPA and UFGD. It was through UFGD projects that we were able to improve ourselves, acquiring the knowledge necessary to form the Flavors of the Cerrado Association. Therefore, with the formation of the Association, we achieved values of preservation of the cerrado, as it is from there that we sustainably obtain our raw material for the production of products sold by the group, ensuring a greater source of income for the families that are part of the association.
