Reflections on the civilizing process in historical, social and individual levels

Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on the human being and their various relationships. To do this, within the limits of the formal objectives of this work, makes use of the theory of Norbert Elias on the subject, a theory that is expressed mainly in two texts: About human beings and their emotions: an essay from the perspective of sociology processes, of Elias himself, and the Civilizing process and the domestication of fire, writhing by J. Goudsblom. It is an exercise in historical reading of the human being, trying to follow the methodology proposed by Goudsblom noteworthy that the civilizing process takes place on three levels. Thus, the text also has three corresponding parts: first present the historical level, highlighting for both the fire and the formation of man as a social being who did; the second part is presented as a study of the social level the example of Aristotle and its reflection of the human being as a political and herald of the civilizing process; and the third and last part, as the seizure individual level, it is proposed to reading Gilberto Freyre, particularly Casa-Grande e Senzala, trying to show that the civilizing process can not be seen from teleological manner, using as a parameter the now famous term made by Freire, sifilizador the process that occurred in Brazil. Fundamentally, what is sought is to perform a reflection that never loses sight of something very important in education: the man as a being made and makes yourself historically.
