Two visits to Alcibiades: considerations on the rewritting of a Machado de Assis’s tale

In this paper, we will weave some considerations on the short story "Uma visita de Alcibíades", published by Machado de Assis in Jornal das Famílias, in October 1876, under the pseudonym Victor de Paula and which, after a process of rewriting, appeared again in Gazeta de Notícias in 1882, now with the signing of Bruxo do Cosme Velho. From the first to the second version, the changes made by the writer show variations in relation to the narrator, the characters and structure of the text.Downloads
