Abstract

The present paper  aims to analyze how are realized  the rites of passage, which are related to the changes we went through in our lives, in the work Duas Iguais, by Cíntia Moscovich. The rites are understood as relevant, in this narrative, since they seem  to interfere in the construction / formation of the protagonist’s personality. Moreover, to think about the rites of passage in Two Equal is also to understand the process that silences  the love experienced by the central character. For this analysis, it will be useful the contributions, in particular, the studies of Arnold Van Gennep (1978), which focus on the rites of passage, as well the ideas of Judith Butler (2003),  that discuss the complexity of gender issues.
