Description and analysis of ecclesiastical terms in manuscripts at goiás state from 18th and 19th centuries: an intersection between philology and terminology

The intention of this article is to discuss two terms of the ecclesiastical
framework related to Catholicism offi cials, in order to verify convergent and divergent points of these terms in relation to the roles in the ecclesiastical hierarchy. The terms used for this purpose, namely: “pároco” and “capelão”, were taken from two manuscripts books formally recorded in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, in Goiás. The first contains baptisms seats child slaves and their children as well as people not subjugated to this strain; the second report on the rights and duties associated with the brotherhood of Saint “Joaquim do Cocal”. The theoretical and methodological apparatus used for this purpose made use of the theoretical assumptions of authors who deal with science Terminology, Philology and History, such as Barros (2004), Castro (1998), Nunes (2008), Cambraia (2005), Megale and Toledo Neto (2005), among others, given that the intersection of these disciplines was crucial to confi rm or refute the hypothesis that served as a guide for the research presented here.
