Progress and prospects of technology in the classroom and teacher training

The use of educational technologies has been following digital trends from a simple activity with audio, video or calculating machine to more elaborate, such as those using new Web 2.0 devices. The simple fact of inserting technology into classroom, learning does not imply, must have justification for teaching, training teacher, environments and appropriate equipment. This text aims to present initial attempts since the seventeenth century inserting interactive content and technologies of the time in the teaching process, and discuss some current technologies and others that will become part of the school environment. Finally, an experiment is described in a licensure course on educational technology that aims at the investigation of new technologies applied to mathematics education and of the attitude expected of the teacher of the future.Downloads
