Diário Íntimo: The writing itself in Lima Barreto
Keywords:
Diário Íntimo. Autobiography. Literary conscience.Abstract
This work is a study of autobiographical writing Lima Barreto (1881-1922) in his book Diário Íntimo (1969 [1953]). We looked at these flaps made of fragments and, on them, we will design elements that capture the literary conscience of the writer of the late XIX and early XX centuries. It is understand how Lima Barreto designs a look at this condition as a writer in the Rio universe, revealing the pitfalls arising from the socio cultural situation brought to the vogue of cosmopolitanism. To support our argument, we drew on critical studies (Prado, 1993; Sevcenko, 2003) that consider the strategies employed by Lima Barreto to overcome the limits of literary tradition. Moreover, we base in theoretical studies (LEJEUNE, 2008; MACIEL, 2004; OLMI, 2006)that reflect on the configuration of autobiography in literature.Downloads
