Abstract

Starting from the dialogue between literature and visual arts suggested by the short story “Retábulo de Santa Joana Carolina”, by Osman Lins, and using concepts of Mikhail Bakhtin and Walter Benjamin, this article proposes a brief analysis of the structure of the story focusing the narrator. So, we observe that the aesthetic choices and the fragmentary strategies adopted build a narrative that is both singular and plural, individual and collective.
