Abstract

Very few it has on production about academic study of translation of humor; most studies focused on humor are linked to linguistic mechanisms - ie, some aspects of language (such as phonetics, syntax, stylistic) - of production of humor. Just as studies of translation have been consolidated recently, the same can be said about the study of translation of humor. The translation of humor is subject to a significant knowledge of the translator of the subject and and of his own time, since at any given time, it is necessary that the translator, through his imagination and insight, recreate certain passages according to the contemporary understanding of comic object. The present study aims to examine the conservation of humor in a brief scene of the gravediggers of the play The Tragedy of Hamlet: Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, translated by Millor Fernandes in 2011 and Carlos Alberto Nunes in 2011. The edition used as original is the Oxford Shakespeare and theoretical base for this study focuses on trends deforming by Antoine Berman.

Graduado em Letras Licenciatura/Habilitação Português/Inglês pela Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados e especialista em Tradução de Inglês pela Universidade Gama Filho. Atualmente cursa o Mestrado em Estudos da Tradução na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.
