Abstract

It is taken as proposal to raise questions which enable a reflection about changes and continuities in the border space of modernist and contemporary Brazilian literatures. The focus of this paper is to the diagram of literary communication in Child of the dark: The diary of Carolina Maria de Jesus (1960), by Carolina Maria de Jesus. The investigation of the carolinian diary is necessary once it was observed a partial rupture of the way how the diagram was being organized, when it sticks to the fact that now who "talks" is Carolina, black woman, squatter and non-literate. Such variation is responsible for triggering relevant hypotheses to think on the presence of new literary procedures, so-called contemporaries. Among these variations, we highlight the different aspects in the production of the work, or rather, it contains Romanesque forms regimented to a text that calls itself diary. To support such hypotheses, we get base on the theoretical support of Bakhtin (2000), Lukacs (2000), Robert (2008), among others.
