Abstract

This text is part of the project “Memória da Geografia Brasileira” (Memory of Brazilian Geography), and aims to link some of the intellectuals who shaped Brazilian Geography with the Association of Brazilian Geographers (AGB). The aim of this text is to piece together the trajectory of Professor Manuel Correia de Andrade, which is intertwined with that of the Association of Brazilian Geographers (AGB). Crossed stories between intellectuals and the institution that served as a space for debate and promotion of a Brazilian Geography, formed at the same time as it collectively formed the Brazilian geographic community, and individually each of these same intellectuals. Professor Manuel Correia, as he was known in Brazilian Geography, is an integral and active part of this process of collective construction.

Author Biography

Charlles da França Antunes, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ-FFP)

Possui graduação em Geografia pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (1991), Mestrado e Doutorado em Geografia pela Universidade Federal Fluminense (2001 e 2008). É Professor Titular do Departamento de Geografia da Faculdade de Formação de Professores da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. Tem experiência na área de Geografia, com ênfase em história do pensamento geográfico brasileiro e ensino de geografia, atuando na graduação e pós-graduação em Geografia.
