Abstract

A atual região da Grande Dourados – Sul do Antigo Mato Grosso - foi palco dos projetos do Estado Novo que culminaram com a implantação da Colônia Agrícola Nacional de Dourados – CAND. Esta colônia teve grande repercussão devido ao desenvolvimento que possibilitou à região, o que lhe garantiu destaque na memória coletiva da mesma. Nesse sentido houve recentemente na cidade de Dourados a tentativa de oficializar esta memória, o que de fato se deu por meio da construção de uma rica iconografia. Sendo assim o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar esta memória, verificando que na citada região a memória oficial não só mitificou a representação histórica do que supostamente pretendia representar, mas encobriu absolutamente o mais simples e genérico significado da CAND nesta região.
