Jules Michelet: look on women's role in children’s education

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze Jules Michetet’s perspective on the women's role in children’s education in the 19th century, based on two literary works of the author: The Woman and The People. According to the author, as an educator the woman is responsible for society formation. She’s the family basis which in turn is the basis of the country. This paper seeks to identify what role woman’s play in the education process towards their children and how she was seen by the author in the 19th century. Michelet considers that education is centered in women’s hands and they are responsible for the education of the next generation. Finally, it will be presented aspects to allow an historical analyses and reflectionsabout the path that is being treading for children’s education in the contemporary society.
