Para além da cidadania liberal: algumas reflexões sobre o republicanismo e o liberalismo

O presente ensaio discorre sobre algumas vertentes teóricas que abordam a temática da cidadania, dando ênfase às contribuições trazidas pelo republicanismo e pela corrente liberal. Se, por um lado, o liberalismo contribuiu para a formulação de uma cidadania universal, fundamentada na noção de que todos são livres e iguais, por outro lado reduziu a cidadania a um status legal, deixando de lado ideias essenciais como a de participação política, motivo pelo qual é fundamental resgatar a importância da dimensão republicana nas análises sobre a cidadania na contemporaneidade, o que será feito na presente abordagem.Downloads
