Abstract

O presente artigo tem por objetivo discutir a luta por direitos dos povos indígenas como exercício de cidadania e afirmação dos direitos humanos em um contexto de pluralidade cultural. A interculturalidade será apresentada como uma proposta que avança em relação ao discurso da tolerância e que afirma a necessidade de respeito e convivência entre grupos e indivíduos culturalmente diferenciados para o enraizamento da democracia e da soberania popular no Brasil.
