Didactic proposal for teaching spatial geometry by reusing materials: an action of the education observatory project

Abstract

The objective of this work is to present an action of the Education Observatory Project focused on Mathematics and Introduction to Science - OBEDUC, where we propose to high school students of a public school the teaching of Spatial Geometry based on geometric solids built with reusable materials, with the intention of discussing Environmental Education. The activity was developed in 12 hours of classes, where in addition to the topics of mathematics, we worked on notions and concepts of Environmental Education. We concluded through the students' reports that there was learning of mathematical concepts related to geometric solids and a greater perception in relation to caring for the environment and the various possibilities of reusing materials that, a priori, would go to the trash. The results obtained were satisfactory, considering that the students approached knowledge, with which they will be able to create social relationships constituted of sensitivity, creativity and critical thinking, essential characteristics for the construction of new knowledge.
