Abstract

Ulysses Panisset is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the UFMG and a member of the Scientific Committee for Reproductive Health of the World Health Organization (WHO) - already in his second term. He has a long career as a sanitarist, teacher, researcher and international employee. Panisset holds a doctorate in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University, and he is the author of dozens of articles and a reference work on foreign policy, public health and the construction of an international health system, published in the United States (International Health Statecraft: Foreign Policy and Public Health in Peru's Cholera Epidemic, University Press of America, 2000). In the following interview, Ulysses presented us with solid and convincing opinions based on his experiences and his international studies on the possibilities and limits of the project of "global democratic governance" in international health organizations - PAHO and WHO.
