Abstract

Pensar a cidade implica pensar espacialidades, temporalidades e ambientes. O presente texto tem a preocupação de tornar possível um outro olhar sobre como se deu o processo de construção da Favela da Cachoeira de Campina Grande – construção enquanto espaço habitado no ano de 1959, e construção enquanto um lugar de significado por seus moradores e por outros cidadãos. Abordaremos o modo como cotidianamente os agentes sociais da Cachoeira lutavam pela melhoria de sua qualidade de vida, movimento que acabou resultando da remoção no ano de 2006 das cercas de 670 famílias da favela para um espaço projetado para recebe-los: o loteamento Glória, ou, como é mais conhecido, Bairro da Glória. Altera-se o ambiente da cidade e a vida de pessoas. Para realizar nosso trabalho utilizamos entrevistas feitas com ex-moradores da favela, bem como lançamos mão de documentos oficiais e obras de cunho historiográfico.
