Geography with social impact: the threefold vocation of the PPGEO/UEL in the transformation of territories.

This article analyzes the social impact of the Graduate Program in Geography at the State University of Londrina (PPGEO/UEL), highlighting its academic, technical, and formative vocation. The qualitative and documentary research involved data collection from research groups and analysis of projects and products with proven social relevance. Results show that PPGEO/UEL generates concrete transformations in territories and communities through the integration of teaching, research, and outreach. Projects on social cartography, food sovereignty, environmental management, decolonial education, and teacher training foster dialogue between knowledge systems and strengthen public policies, citizenship, and sustainability. The program consolidates the university’s role as an agent of territorial and social transformation, reaffirming Geography’s importance in promoting socio-environmental justice, inclusion, and the appreciation of popular knowledge. It articulates scientific knowledge with an ethical commitment to life and territory, contributing to the construction of more democratic, participatory, and equitable forms of social organization.
