Social impact of postgraduate research in geography: the "Nós Propomos!" project at Unioeste in Francisco Beltrão

This paper presents research carried out in the postgraduate program in Geography through the "Nós Propomos!" Project at Unioeste in Francisco Beltrão, developed from experiences with teachers and students in both basic and higher education, aimed at fostering territorial citizenship, with significant social impact. The text highlights actions implemented in public and private schools, in primary, middle, secondary, and higher education levels, in the municipalities of Francisco Beltrão, Itapejara D’Oeste, Pato Branco, Verê, and Enéas Marques (PR). The project has been developed with the active participation of students, under the guidance of teachers, with actions directed toward civic, educational, social, cultural, political, economic, and territorial formation. The activities have reached the local communities where the project is implemented and follow the methodological perspective of the "Nós Propomos!" Project, originally launched at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, in 2011 by Professor Sérgio Claudino Loureiro Nunes. The activities aim to encourage students to identify local problems and propose interventions with potential solutions. These proposals are presented to local government authorities or other responsible institutions. This practice, which integrates research, teaching, and outreach, has contributed to strengthening territorial citizenship and fostering the relevance of geographical education.
