Environmental refugees: an analysis on migration, human rights and global governance

The purpose of this article is to analyze the environmental refuge and build a theoretical study on the subject, contemplating its main aspects and the relationship between this phenomenon, international migrations and global governance. Initially, the article will address an overview of the environmental refuge, its relationship with migratory flows and its inclusion in the international human rights agenda. Subsequently, it will discuss its concept, the applicable legislation, its causes and the existing relationship between environmental refugees and the possibility of building an environmental governance that includes climate refugees as a specific category of international displaced people.
