Este artigo apresenta a história semântica do conceito de soberania e a história de seus usos pragmáticos no primeiro quartel do século XIX Brasileiro. A metodologia histórica é oferecida pela história dos conceitos (Begriffsgeschichte) e pelo contextualismo de Cambridge. As principais fontes históricas são os anais da Assembleia Geral Constituinte e Legislativa do Império do Brasil de 1823, os escritos de Frei Joaquim do Amor Divino Caneca, os panfletos manuscritos e impressos publicados entre 1820 e 1823, e documentos oficiais.Downloads
