Abstract

This article reports on how university students who do not live with their parents organize themselves in Campo Grande from 2012 to 2017, in order to find out how these young people relate to each other, what structures they have developed - or not - of autonomy so that they can begin adulthood in sociopsychological terms. The concepts, advantages and disadvantages of freedom and fears of these young people were also studied. A questionnaire was applied with emphasis on qualitative and quantitative methodology to 23 young people who moved to Campo Grande during the indicated period in order to attend university and have new experiences, away from their parents. Articles and materials on websites were also consulted. The research fits into the empirical-analytical trend. The young people showed great difficulty in managing, mainly, financial matters, as this was not a common practice for them in their parents' homes. Although in other areas there is already a certain ease – such as cleaning the house – the inexperience in coordinating study, work, bureaucracy and social life activities still weighs on the lives of these young people.
