Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • All material submitted to RealizAção - Online Journal of Extension and Culture - must be an original and unpublished contribution and must not be under evaluation for publication by another journal.
  • I (we) accept the publication guidelines, as well as agree (agree) to the terms of the Copyright Declaration.

Author Guidelines

  1. The objective of RealizAção is to publicly share reflections and results of extension and cultural actions developed at local, regional, national, and international levels, in a network of actors and social institutions.
  2. The journal is published biannually, and each issue will contain twelve articles, which may be presented in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Selection will be carried out through evaluation by professionals with experience in University Extension and Culture.
  3. Submitted works will be evaluated by the Editorial Board and ad hoc consultants. The following criteria will be observed in the selection process: topic priority, scientific consistency, originality, currency of information, and adherence to ethical and technical standards.
  4. The content of the works and their review are the sole responsibility of the respective authors.
  5. The Journal of Extension and Culture - RealizAção is organized into the following sections:
  • Articles: Analytical texts resulting from studies and reviews on topics related to university extension or experiences developed in the thematic areas established for university extension, which may include: Communication, Culture, Human Rights, Education, Environment, Health, Technology and Production, Labor, Generation of Work and Income, Gender and Solidarity Economy, Racial Equality, Ethnic Diversity, Youth, and the Elderly. Articles should have between twelve to twenty pages, including figures, graphs, tables, appendices, and bibliographic references.
  • Critical Reviews: Synthesis or critical analysis of works related to University Extension and Culture, published in the last three years, between three to five pages.
  • Experience Reports: Reports of experiences from Extension and Culture actions, which should have between twelve to twenty pages.

Originals should be submitted only in electronic format, in Microsoft Word (doc, docx) or BROffice (odt), not exceeding 10MB, via the online submission system on the UFGD/PROEC website – link to the Journal of Extension and Culture of UFGD (http://ojs.ws.ufgd.edu.br/index.php?journal=realizacao), following the parameters below:

a) Font: Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, size 12;

b) Margin settings of 2.5 cm for right, left, bottom, and top in A4 paper format;

c) Uppercase only for acronyms (titles should always consist of both uppercase and lowercase letters);

d) Paragraph indentations should be 1.5 cm.

Regarding the general structure of the work, it should have the following format:

a) Title of the work in Portuguese, English, and Spanish; in uppercase and centered;

b) Full names of the authors aligned to the right;

c) Name of the institution and sector to which the authors are affiliated;

d) Complete addresses of the authors and emails for correspondence;

e) Indication of the author responsible for correspondence (highlight the name in bold);

f) Abstract of the work in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, with up to 250 words.

Avoid presenting only a version produced through automatic electronic translation. Assistance from a native speaker is recommended; any quality deficiencies will delay the publication process if approved.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to return the manuscript to authors if the text quality is very low.

g) Keywords (up to five) in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, separated by commas, in the original language of the work. Do not repeat words contained in the title;

h) Titles such as Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, and References should be in uppercase, aligned to the left in the manuscript;

i) The text should be justified;

j) Notes should be marked with numbers in superscript, to the right of the word, and placed at the end of each page, in font size 10;

k) Bibliographic references should be placed at the end of the text (see item 8);

l) Maps and Photographs: must be scanned in bmp or jpg format with a resolution of 300 dpi, inserted close to the text they refer to and not as attachments. The submission of the Free Transfer of Copyright Form is mandatory as a supplementary document - access the Model of the Transfer Form here.

m) Tables and Graphs: must include the indication of the program and version used (only formats compatible with Windows), inserted in the text, and not as attachments.

Citation format for references in the text and in the reference list:

a. In textual citations:

... (SOUZA et al., 2003; ROCHA, 2003). ... Souza et al. (2003), Rocha (2003), and Rocha and Falcão (2006)...

b. In the reference list, cite theses, dissertations, and works presented at events only in cases of extreme relevance.

c. The reference list at the end of the article must follow the models below:
