The objective of this work was to share the results obtained with the extension project: “Organic and agroecological beekeeping system in the Areias Community”-PROEX/UFGD, a settlement located in the municipality of Nioaque, MS. The focus of the action was on beekeeping techniques for honey production that were appropriate for the success of the activity in that region, a place in the Pantanal area. The aim of this activity was to achieve self-sufficiency for the settlers, so that in the future, through honey production, they could achieve nutritional improvements and also generate income. During the action, practical and theoretical courses were developed monthly, associated with the monitoring of the various activities, taking care to pay attention to each period of the beekeeping management calendar. The monitoring and achievement of the planned objectives were evaluated every 30 days. After each stage of the production scale was completed, the participants gathered to evaluate the activities carried out using a general panel, so that quantitative and qualitative data could be collected in a participatory manner. In this way, the producers were able to reflect deeply on the steps taken throughout the process, identifying the possibilities for success, as well as the problems that occurred, favoring the construction of improved systems. There was commitment from all those involved in the execution of this practice, which after the first honey collection, a satisfactory result was observed in relation to the economic aspect, as well as providing satisfaction in the community's social relations, since the various meetings and activities developed collectively brought the families of the community together. This promoted the awakening of interest in other families of the Areias settlement, who began to express the desire to join the group and work with beekeeping.
