Abstract

O artigo revisita algumas obras de Marx e Durkheim à luz de alguns comentadores para identificar o estatuto da educação em suas teorias sociológicas. Parte do pressuposto da pertinência e atualidade dos chamados clássicos na contemporaneidade. Após um breve panorama das teorias dos dois autores, analisamos em suas obras os condicionais do processo educacional na modernidade. Ao final, realizamos uma comparação e uma pequena reflexão sobre a possibilidade ou inviabilidade da educação ser um fator inovador nas sociedades modernas nesses autores.
