Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution, authored by graduate students or postgraduates, is original and unpublished and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal.
  • The files for submission are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (as long as they do not exceed 2MB).
  • URLs for references were provided when necessary.
  • The text is spaced 1.5 lines; uses a 12-point font; uses italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document, as attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described inGuidelines for Authors, in the About the Journal section.
    Remember: In the case of texts submitted in English, the title and abstract in Portuguese must be registered separately.
  • Authorship identification was removed from the file and from the Properties option in Word, thus guaranteeing the journal's secrecy criteria, if submitted for peer review (eg articles), according to instructions available at Ensuring Blind Peer Review.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts must be sent through the electronic journal platform available on the UFGD website (http://www.periodicos.ufgd.edu.br/index.php/moncoes), with the following specifications: file compatible with Word for Windows, Arial font, size 12, spacing 1.5 lines and side, top and bottom margins of 2.5 cm.

At least one of the authors must be a graduate student (master's or doctoral student) or have already obtained a master's or Ph.D.  Texts submitted to Monções must have a maximum of two co-authors, that is, one author and a maximum of two co-authors.

Contributions to Monções must follow the following specifications:


1. Unpublished articles in Portuguese, Spanish, French, or English between 20 and 30 pages long, including bibliographical references and footnotes, which must have an abstract in Portuguese, English, and Spanish (an abstract in French being optional), with a maximum of 200 words each, and three keywords. The title must be translated into Portuguese and Spanish by the author (a title in French being optional). Both the titles in Portuguese and Spanish and the abstract and summary must be registered in the system at the time of submission of the article, and not just included in the file to be attached. In the case of texts originally submitted in English, the title and abstract in Portuguese must be registered separately.
2. Book reviews with up to 4 pages, including any bibliographical references and footnotes, and on works published no more than three years ago.

General orientations:

Citations of up to three lines must be in the body of the text in quotation marks. From four lines, they must be highlighted with font size ten (10) and four centimeters indent to the left,  and spacing between lines (simple).

Footnotes must appear in the body of the text and cannot consist of simple bibliographical references.

Bibliographical references must be in alphabetical order by last name and must appear at the end of the article, according to the format that appears in the examples below (pay attention to punctuation, spaces, and use of italics and capital letters):

Others
Graphs, tables, and maps must be included in the body of the text and sent in separate files, correctly numbered and titled, with the proper reference (if reproduced from another source) and with an indication of the place where they will be inserted in the text. The images must be in files with a resolution of at least 300 dpi, in order to allow their direct reproduction.

URLs for bibliographic references must be duly informed when necessary.

Book reviews must present the complete reference of the analyzed work, with the need to indicate the number of pages of each one. Reviews should not receive a title, nor contain notes or bibliographical references outside the subject addressed in the analyzed text.

The submission of original works implies the automatic assignment of copyright and publication rights to the journal.

The editorial board of Monções - UFGD's Journal of International Relations is not committed to returning the contributions received.
