Ricardo dos Santos Batista is a professor of Departament of History of UNEB and UFBA. He has a master's and doctorate in History from UFBA, producing works in the area of history of diseases and sciences. For some years now, he has dedicated himself to thinking about local-global relations in the production and circulation of knowledge. Focusing on the experiences of fellows from the Rockefeller Foundation, the researcher analyzes the processes of resignification and transformation that made it possible to carry out projects to modernize medical education in the “global south”. From the interviewee's trajectory, the relevance of studies that approach scientific production in a plural and connected way is evident, contesting approaches restricted to a national scale or that reinforce notions of coloniality. Furthermore, the potential of Brazilian and international collections in the development of analyzes attentive to the circulation of knowledge and plurality of subjects in scientific production is discussed.
