Abstract

Incontáveis lagoas costeiras pontilhavam Fortaleza em um passado histórico recente. A indústria da construção civil e a especulação imobiliária eliminaram parcela significativa desses recursos hídricos. Associada ao surgimento de uma cultura ambiental mundial,  ouve alteração na cultura urbana local, que agora valoriza os espaços naturais. Ainda assim, as lagoas continuam sob risco, em função da poluição de suas águas por esgotos – tal é o caso da Lagoa do Papicu, parque ecológico estadual que está desaparecendo do cenário urbano em função da eutrofização de suas águas.
