Abstract

O presente trabalho delineia pontos negativos e positivos do Sistema Nacional de Unidades de Conservação da Natureza do Brasil, aprofundando-se quanto às especificidades de gestão do modelo de Unidade de Conservação Reserva Extrativista. Para tanto, foi feito um resgate dos principais marcos políticos da legislação ambiental brasileira que estão conectados com a questão de áreas protegidas e de populações tradicionais. Perceber-se-á as mudanças de paradigmas ocorridas no tempo histórico no que tange à gestão socioambiental, sobretudo ao serem destacadas as Reservas Extrativistas, por, dentre outros fatores, terem conseguido associar dois termos que tradicionalmente se excluem:exploração e conservação dos recursos naturais
