Abstract

This theoretical review is a state of the art on geography in studies of urban- rural borders, it is a bibliographic exploration from the relationship of the concepts space, territory; on the territorial dynamics of two Latin American countries such as Brazil and Colombia where exclusive territorialities and alternative territorialities are evident; Likewise, the categories of invited and invented spaces for participation are addressed. The document is structured like this, first, the introduction is presented, second, the conceptual approach, then the conclusions are raised.

Author Biography

Martha Isabel Bernal Mora, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Docente Ocasional

A geographer, she graduated from the National University of Colombia, Bogotá (UN) in 2010 and earned a Master's degree in Geography from the same university in 2020. She focuses on the social production of space, territory, the territoriality of social processes, territorial planning, spatial dynamics, and urban-regional structures. Her research career has allowed her to understand the territorial dynamics of various social groups, which have been published. These include her undergraduate thesis entitled "NASA Territoriality in Bogotá" and her graduate thesis entitled "Multiterritorialities in the Urban-Rural Edges of Usme." In her professional field, she has 15 years of experience in public entities at the district and national levels on social issues such as the Participatory Mapping methodology from the Territorial Directorate of the District Secretariat for Social Integration; the consolidation of the Emergency Geovisor in the Unit for Victim Assistance and Reparation; and contributions to the Truth Commission's Virtual Atlas. The International Organization for Migration – Commission for the Clarification of the Truth, Coexistence and Non-Repetition (CEV) to support the Commission's work in its final year of mandate and legacy, at the World Food Programme - United Nations Organizations (UN), as well as the Sinergia Sociedad Foundation and the District Secretariat for Social Integration as a data analyst.
