Carlos Walter is a global/local thinker whose work influences fields of knowledge such as decolonial thought, political ecology and critical geography from Abya Yala/Latin America. Their contributions are essential to understand the main conflicts, problems and civilizational challenges of the present and build a viable and dignified future. His publications stand out for the global/local vision in which he described the territorial conflict on the analytical triad “territory-territoriality-territorialization” to understand the global souths, as well as colonialities, oppressions and r-existences within the global north. All the above framed in the spatial arc that claims the centrality of space for the understanding of the whole. Extending its legacy translates into continuing the struggles for territorial r-existence and overcoming fragmentations at the disciplinary, temporal, interpretative, approaches, cases and subjects levels towards a sustainable society in peace and dignity for all humans in their diversity.
