This article characterizes the genesis and development of a new line of research, which emerges at the intersection between studies of the Geographic Space and the socio-economic movements of Sociotechnical Transition. This new research agenda is called Geography of Transitions to Sustainability (GeoST). Bibliometric techniques and the operationalization of the open-source software VOSviewer were used. This field of knowledge is predominantly led by non-geographers and researchers from the global north, with little representation from peripheral realities, as the results indicate. The relevance of incorporating GeoST into the academic and political debate in Brazilian Geography is highlighted, with the potential for mutual enrichment among scientific communities. The study indicates possible intersections between GeoST and Brazilian Geography. It emphasizes the relevance of interdisciplinary approaches and understanding spatial dynamics for a more sustainable society.
