This study aimed to evaluate the effect of preservative solutions, aiming to increase the longevity, while maintaining the quality of cut Denphal (Dendrobium bigibbum Lindl.) stems. The experimental design was completely randomized. There were five treatments: T1 - distilled water (control); T2 - 5% sucrose + 50 mg/L 8 HQ + 50 mg/L AgNO3; T3 - 5% sucrose + 100 mg/L 8 HQ + 50 mg/L AgNO3; T4 - 5% sucrose + 100 mg/L 8 HQ; T5 - 1% (20 mg/L) of eucalyptus essential oil; four repetitions and four stems per plot, making a total of 80 stems. The preservative solution containing sucrose (5%) and Hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) at a concentration of 100 mg L-1 proved to be more efficient compared to the others, as it maintained the quality, prolonging the pot life of Denphal stems by 30 days.
