Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal.

  • The names and surnames of authors were filled in lower case, only with initials in upper case. ORCID iD and the curriculum link of all authors were informed. The Institution / Affiliation was filled in with the full name of the entity and in parentheses the acronym. The country of the institution to which the authors are affiliated has been filled. The brief summary of the authors' biography has been inserted.

  • The article title, abstract and keywords metadata were filled in English and Portuguese.

  • The text is written in Times New Roman font, size 11, 1.5 line spacing, 2 cm margins, with numbered lines and pages (continuous numbering). Figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document as attachments.

  • The files for submission are in LibreOffice Writer, Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (as long as they do not exceed 2MB). The URLs for the references were provided when necessary.

  • The manuscript follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Guidelines for Authors, in the section About the Journal.

  • The authorship identification of the manuscript was removed from the file and from the Properties option in the document, thus guaranteeing the journal's secrecy criterion, according to the instructions available in Blind Peer Review.

Author Guidelines

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPTS ACCEPTED FOR PUBLICATION

Scientific Article: It is the complete report of an experimental work. It is based on the premise that the results are after the research planning.

Communication: It is the succinct report of partial results of an experimental work, worthy of publication, containing reliable and significant data. Data surveys (occurrence, diagnostics, among others) also fall into this modality.

 

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS

The submission of papers is done exclusively through the Open Journal Systems (OJS). Submission involves two main steps: the inclusion of metadata and the transfer (upload) of the manuscript to the system.

 

Section Choice

In the submission, the section to which the manuscript must be considered in the editorial process must be chosen.

 

Conditions for submission

The author must ensure that the conditions for submission have been met.

 

Copyright Statement

Authors must agree to the terms of the Copyright Statement.

 

Transfer of the manuscript

The main file must be transferred to OJS following the blind review guidelines.

 

Filling in the metadata:

Form language

Metadata must be filled in Portuguese and English. Authors must fill in the fields in the selected language, save the changes and then choose the other language and click on "Submit" to fill in the data in the second language. After filling the page with metadata in both languages, the author must click on "Save and continue".

Authors identification

  1. The names and surnames of authors must be filled with lowercase letters, only with initials in capital letters;

  2. Last names must be in the correct field, with only the last name allowed in the last field. The "middle name" field must contain the prepositions of, dos (if applicable). Example: Maria da Silva dos Santos. In this case, the middle name must be filled in with "da Silva dos" and the surname only "Santos";

  3. Inform the active email of all authors;

  4. It is mandatory to inform the ORCID iD of all authors. For more information visit: https://orcid.org/;

  5. It is mandatory to fill in the URL field must be filled with the link of the curriculum of each author;

  6. The Institution / Affiliation field must be filled in with the full name of the entity and in parentheses the acronym. Example: "Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD)";

  7. Select the country of the institution to which the authors are affiliated;

  8. It is mandatory to insert a brief Biography Summary of the authors, including the last academic degree obtained or in progress (Degree, area, institution) and Institution where you currently work or study (Position, department, institution).


Title, Abstract, Keywords

Only the first letter of the article title should be capitalized, except in the case of proper names;

  1. The abstract must be presented in a single paragraph;

  2. Keywords must be written in lower case and separated by commas. They must not contain a period.


Contributors and Development Agencies

Contributors and funding agencies must be informed in full and the acronym in parentheses, if applicable. Example: Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES); Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPQ).

 

References

The references field must be filled in alphabetical order with a line separating references.

 

SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS

It is mandatory in the submission to send the letter of introduction and indication of the ad hoc reviewers. The letter must present:

  • Details of the manuscript (title, authors, etc.)

  • Justify why the journal should publish the article, highlighting its scientific relevance, its contribution to discussions in the area in which it is inserted, the point (s) that characterize (s) its originality and the consequent potential for be quoted.

  • Authors must indicate three possible reviewers for the manuscript, with the respective e-mails and the institutions to which they are linked.

 

DETAILING THE STRUCTURE AND FORMATTING OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLE

Language

Manuscripts can be written in Portuguese or English. Manuscripts submitted in English will be directed to a "fast track" editorial process, streamlining the response to authors and publication.

Extension

Manuscripts submitted as a Scientific Article must not exceed 20 pages, including all elements of the text and references.

Scientific Article Structure and Formatting

The manuscript must be presented in Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer, A4 format, Times New Roman font, size 11, 1.5 line spacing, 2 cm margins, with numbered pages and lines (continuous numbering).

Articles must, mandatorily, have the following sections:

Title

The title must be succinct and present the general idea of the work. Only the first letter of the article title should be capitalized, except for proper names. Avoid abbreviations and scientific names in the title, except for species that do not have a common name. It must be bold, centered and not exceed 100 characters with spaces. It must be written in Portuguese and English (if the article is written in Portuguese) or in English and Portuguese (if the article is written in English).

Abstract

It must contain a maximum of 250 words. It must be presented in a single paragraph and contain the following elements: brief introduction, objective, methodology, results and conclusion. Papers submitted in Portuguese must have an abstract in English, just as those submitted in English must have an abstract in Portuguese.

Keywords

Immediately after the abstract, provide a minimum of three and a maximum of five keywords, in alphabetical order, in lowercase and separated by commas. They must not repeat words from the Title. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

Introduction

Concise explanation, in which the information that guided the study is presented, based on the updated literature review, as well as its pertinence and relevance. The objectives of the study should be clearly presented at the end of the introduction.

Materials and methods

Cite the experimental design, the material involved, the description of the methods used or correctly refer to the methods already published. Use subtitles only as strictly necessary. Studies involving animal experimentation must present in this section proof of authorization from the Ethics Committee on the Use of Animals. Commercial product names should not be used, but the technical name and/or active ingredient, with the appropriate specifications.

Results

Present clearly and objectively the main results found.

Discussion

Discuss only the results obtained in the study, always based on updated and pertinent literature.

Note: The Results and Discussion sections may be presented together.

Conclusions

The conclusions must be supported by the data of the research carried out, written succinctly, without presenting abbreviations in the text.

Acknowledgment

Where applicable, mention the funding source for the study or other acknowledgments.

Illustrations

Every illustration (table and figure) that has already been published in another scientific journal must contain, below the legend, data about the source (author, date) and the corresponding reference must appear in the final bibliographic list.

Tables

It is essential that all tables are typed in Word or LibreOffice using the "Insert Table" (tables with values separated by the ENTER resource or pasted as a figure will not be accepted). Tables and figures sent outside the norms will be returned for adequacy. Use horizontal lines to separate the header and the end of the table. The caption initially receives the word Table, followed by the order number in Arabic numerals and period, written in bold (Ex: Table 1. Performance of weaned pigs fed with different levels of whey). If applicable, footnotes can be presented below the bottom line of the table, in Times New Roman, size 8.

Figures

Photographs, graphs, flowcharts, diagrams, etc. they must be prepared in a graphic editor with a quality of at least 300 dpi and in JPEG extension. The units, the font (Times New Roman) and the body of the letters in all figures must be standardized and of a size compatible with the text. Figures must be inserted immediately after their call in the text. The captions initially receive the word Figure, followed by the order number in Arabic numerals and period, written in bold. (Ex: Figure 1. Carbon turnover in the intestinal mucosa of piglets fed with glutamine).

References

  • References must be submitted in accordance with ABNT NBR 6023.

  • Must not exceed the limit of 25 bibliographic references.

  • They must be presented in alphabetical order of the authors' surnames, separated by semicolons, without numbering.

  • They must present the names of all authors of the work.

  • They must contain the titles of the works or periodicals written in bold.

  • Journal titles should not be abbreviated.

  • All references must register a publication date, even if approximate.

  • They must be separated by 6 point spacing after the paragraph.

  • At least 70% of the cited bibliography must come from scientific journals, 30% of which from the last five years.

DETAILING THE STRUCTURE AND FORMATTING THE COMMUNICATION

It must contain Title (Portuguese and English), Abstract and Keywords (Portuguese and English). Text (without distinction of sections, but with introduction, material and methods, results and discussion and conclusion), Acknowledgments (if any), References. The total number of pages must not exceed 10.

 

OTHER INFORMATION

After the evaluation and acceptance of the work for publication, definitive proofs of the article, in PDF format, will be sent for a final correction by the authors, so errors in this last form will be the authors' full responsibility.

All content presented in articles published in the Journal are the sole responsibility of the authors and the reproduction of works is permitted, provided the source is mentioned.

Any inclusion, exclusion or change in the order of the authors must be notified by means of a letter signed by all authors (including the excluded author).

If the corrections are not returned to Agrarian Journal within a maximum period of 30 days, the processing of the article may be automatically canceled. Failure to meet consultants' requests without justification also leads to automatic cancellation of the article in the submission system.

Privacy Statement

Agrarian is an open access journal. All of its content is available free of charge, at no cost to the user or his institution. Users can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link the full texts of articles in this journal without asking for prior permission from the editor or author.
