This study investigated the temporal variability of precipitation indices in the Terra Nova River basin, located in the state of Pernambuco, using different climatic precipitation indices. The Precipitation Concentration Index (PCI), Precipitation Anomaly Index (RAI), Simple Daily Intensity Index (SDII), as well as absolute indices such as R0 mm, R0.1 mm and R50 mm, and the Mann-Kendall test were analyzed. The data used consist of historical series of daily precipitation from the Brazilian Daily Weather Gridded Data (BR-DWGD) product, covering the period from 1961 to 2022. The analysis revealed that the basin presented an average PCI of 21 and an average RAI of -0.14, suggesting a persistent drought pattern and irregularity in rainfall distribution. An annual average of 127 days without precipitation was observed, with only seven years recording daily rainfall above 50 mm. The average SDII was approximately 6 mm/day, a value considered one of the lowest in Brazil, according to previous studies. The Mann-Kendall test was applied with good performance to identify trends, although no statistically significant trends were detected in the indices and precipitation at different scales. This study demonstrated the ability of using BR-DWGD data to describe in detail the methodology used to assess the rainfall regime in river basins, offering a clear view of hydrological patterns quickly, being a useful tool for water resource management.
