Plutarco e a tradição cultural grega no Império

A permanência das práticas culturais gregas em plena época romana desperta o interesse dos estudiosos da Antigüidade, em especial daqueles que procuram compreender a natureza da Segunda Sofística. A despeito das dominações militar e econômica impostas aos gregos pelos romanos, esse movimento literário espelha o vigor e a excelência da tradição cultural grega, manifestada em sua literatura, capaz de superar tais barreiras. Por esse motivo, vários estudiosos atribuem à Segunda Sofística um caráter ideológico, no qual os autores gregos desse período escreveriam somente para a divulgação e a manutenção da política imperial. Assim, neste artigo, discorremos sobre o quanto essa análise torna-se insuficiente no caso de Plutarco, uma vez que o intuito desse autor é demonstrar a contribuição grega na formação do Império.Downloads
